Marriage and Customs in Utah…

The following is the scanned page text from a small eight page pamphlet entitled, "Marriage and Morals in Utah" as written by Apostle Parley P. Pratt, which caused quite a stir in Denmark and perhaps else where at the time. Isaac Sorensen notes this pamphlet in his "History of Isaac Sorensen," as "Marriage and Customs in Utah" however they are the same document(s). His remarks concerning it, are as follows—

We felt as if we had found a great prize but before we was baptized there came near being an apostasy from the belief, Parley Pratt's pamphlet entitled, "Marriage and Customs in Utah" came out and made a great stir but subsequently it was overcome and confidence restored.

"Marriage and Morals in Utah" is nothing now, other than a 150 plus year old document and a side note or footnote in both the LDS church and family history. Still it is an interesting part of our shared history and to see the original source material as the family might have seen it. Of course they would have seen it in Danish…
