Killed by the Indians—

The hired man that came to America with the Sorensen family was killed by the Indians 4 June of 1858. I know him as Nils Otto Andersen, but due to “Danish Patronymics,” and or other factors converting Danish names to English names he is know to history as Jens Jorgensen, this is the same person regardless of the name used. Not listed in the accounts of their death is the brutal methods that were used and especially those used to kill his pregnant wife, Hedevig Marie Jensen Jorgensen (Andersen to me) and their unborn child. The Andrew Andersen family has honored him many times over with the use of “Otto” in subsequent generations names. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers have erected a monument (number eleven) near the massacre site in Salt Creek Canyon.
